DDM - Class Amplifier

The M-Class Amps are monoblock amplifiers engineered for low frequency applications. The M-Class amps are made to be the soul of your audio system, bass pumping machines so powerful that your face could be ripped from your head in a momentary lapse of reason. Well, maybe that's a bit of a stretch, but these amps offer strong power, logical controls and efficient design.

The M1a (1200w) is joined by the M3 (2400w). Their Power Ratings are continuous power at 1% THD+N, based on long term thermal ability of the amp circuit and heat sink. The dynamic power is based on short term peak output, a capability needed to follow heavy bass energy spikes engineered into most recordings. Both feature class D architecture for high efficiency and parts selected to run well below critical stress levels at rated power.

The M-Class amps accept high level signals through their RCA connections, saving the cost of outboard high-low level converters. Clipping indicator circuits are included to aid in proper setup of gains relative to volume levels. Terminal block connectors are used for power and speaker terminations. The M2 and M3 both using power blocks for up to 0 gauge wire.

The filters on the M1a and M3 are 24dB/oct on both the subsonic and low-pass sections. They are all strappable designs for applications arriving when a bunch of power isn't enough and a boat load of power is in order. This also helps the guys that don't quite have the cheese to buy a Z1a or Z2 all at once, but would like the ability to make that much power in increments. Gotcha covered!

The M1a and M3 share the award winning heat sink design with the C-Class and Z-Class amps. The curved fin design aids in setting up convection currents to effectively move heat away from the output rails. Critics agree that the Z Style heat sink is one of the true world marvels, rivaling the Wheel, Pizza and Hairless Pets.

Anyway, the guts of the M-Class is old school in thought; use good parts, use higher capacity parts than are needed, use a strong power supply, a clean preamp/xover section and good quality control. All amps go through their own burn-in time and full bench testing.

Digital Designs takes amp building seriously. We needed really good amps to put in our cars and we are lucky enough to be able to design our own. Talk about cool!

The M.80 Class D monoblock has its roots in the M1 design; a strong, stable and solid sounding amplifier circuit.. The output power and continuous driving impedance load was targeted at driving multiple woofers with 2" and 2.5" diameter voice coils. With over 800 Watts RMS, the M.80 can also drive larger woofers where physical amp size is a limiting factor.

The output curve is broad, making the M.80 useful for driving 2 or 1 Ohm loads. The M.80 delivers 550 watts into a 2 ohm load and 800 into 1 Ohm load. The broad output curve makes the M.80 ideal for expanding a system around; start with a dual 4 ohm subwoofer and later upgrade to a pair, increasing the output power as you drop from 2 ohms to 1 ohm without buying another amp.
